All About Your Tutor
Teaching today touches tomorrow.
I am passionate about English because of its value as a language of international communication and also its beauty. The sheer number of words and shades of nuance continue to fascinate me and I still love discovering new words; it is endless.
As a tutor I feel I can impart that enthusiasm to whoever I am teaching and help them reach their language goals, whatever they may be. I offer a range of English language services including: English as a Foreign Language Teacher, Proofreading, and Study and Stay for language students from overseas wanting to spend a short time in the UK to improve their English language ability.
I am a Cambridge CELTA and DELTA qualified teacher and I have a Master's Degree in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) from the University of Bath. I have a been a Cambridge ESOL IELTS Speaking and Writing Examiner and Cambridge ESOL Speaking examiner for the Cambridge main suite of exams from KET (A1) to Cambridge Proficiency (C2) as well as the Business suite (BEC Preliminary to BEC Higher). I have taught English at the British Council in Nagoya, Japan, at International House in Brisbane, Australia and at The Cambridge Institute, Zurich, Switzerland, where I was also the Deputy Director of Studies for 6 years. I have also taught on the Pre-sessional Language courses at Bath University, and at other language schools in Bath.
I speak intermediate level German and Japanese and I have also learnt French and Spanish, although they are a little rusty now! So I have experienced many different ways of learning languages myself.
Having been a language teacher for many years, I realise that my strengths lie in one-to-one tutoring, where I am able to focus on the precise needs of the individual to ensure they are able maximise their potential in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
I look forward to meeting you.
